Want to plan a road trip, but where to go?

Road trips, we all love road trips…but if you’re like us, you want to get away, but sometimes can’t think of or decide on where to go.  We’ve compiled a list for you of destinations in Ontario where you can get there easily in a rental vehicle but won’t spend all the time on the road.

In Ontario there is no shortage of great road trips that include lakes, forests, land formations, small unique towns, festivals, and urban cities to explore.
The province is incredibly diverse with lots to offer for everyone.  Below is a list of great places to consider, along with helpful links;

  1. Killarney

    Boost magnificent landscapes, lakes, cliffs with 645 sq kms of wilderness to explore.  Lake and boating activities are in abundance.

  2. Niagara-on-the-lake

    Is in the middle of wine country with many wineries to tour. Niagara-on-the-lake has a heritage downtown to explore with cafes, vintage hotels, fine dining, unique shops, art galleries, and live theatre.  Additionally, only a short drive to Niagara Falls.

  3. Haliburton

    Is blessed with over 600 serene lakes, and is located in the rugged Canadian Shield. Amazing rock formations, fabulous fishing, and boating to experience.  Many cottagers can’t get enough of the lifestyle Haliburton provides.

    Is full of family fun. Quaint villages of the Blue Mountains with beaches, premier golf, scenic caves,  kilometres of amazing cycling paths.  Collingwood is home to many festivals, most notably its Elvis Festival.

  6. Algonquin Park
    As one of Ontario’s largest provincial parks is it best known for camping, hiking, swimming, and canoeing. However it offers many recreational activities and runs unique special events.  This park has provided inspiration to many outdoors types and artists.

    This county consists of many small towns and has over 500 kms of shoreline. It has become a destination known for its wine, arts, culture, and food, dating back to the 18th Century.

    Here you can cruise among 1800 islands on guided boat tours, visiting famous UNESCO heritage sites. Plenty of museums, shopping, live theatre, and even a casino to keep you entertained.

    Is the southern most point of mainland Canada. The park here is 15 sq. kms of protected land, jutting out into Lake Erie. Walk the boardwalk to the marshland and explore the beaches.The area provides cycling, golf, nature walks, local shops, and dining.
